Founded in 2017, The Friends of Abbey Park School (FOAPS) is a group of parents who volunteer to support the school in a number of different ways. We work very closely with the team of teachers and support staff at school and are fully supported by them. Whilst most of our activity is based around fundraising, we also help at school events (cake sales, charity days etc) and are often asked to accompany teachers and students on school trips too.
To give you a flavour of our involvement we have raised money to buy additional literacy resources for tutor groups, sports kit for Abbey Park sports teams, a drone for technical / media students, contributed to the amazing annual school productions, funded tents for Duke of Edinburgh participants, raised funds for the Design and Technology department, visited universities and theatres, arranged celebrity sports visits and were lucky enough to taste test the new school lunch menu along with some students and teachers.
We would love to hear from any parents/carers who are interested in joining us and help us support the school in any way. We realise that not everyone is able to come to meetings but it may be that you have time on your hands during the day to help with activities. Equally, we realise that lots of people work but you might have a creative flair that could help us with our leaflets/handouts for example or be a whizz with numbers and be able to keep our financial records for us. Whatever your skill and the time you are able to spare, the FOAPS can always do with new helping hands.
